MTKsj just got his hands on the approval of XiaoMi's application for a WCDMA network license for its HongMi which will be offered with China Unicom provider which uses same 3G WCDMA network as most of American and European providers.
It is basically an international version of the XiaoMi HongMi (Red Rice).
The original HongMi is only compatible with the China Mobile 3G TD-SCDMA which can only exists in China Mainland. For more informations on the matter, visit our previous article.
The launch of the HongMi created such a high demand especially among people who couldn't benefit fully from the device. Customers of China Unicom and the international community managed to create such a momentum that XiaoMi announced a WCDMA compatible version soon after the launch of the HongMi.
