ThL next Monkey King Phone should support 4G LTE

The alleged Monkey King 2 smartphone from ThL is said to support the latest 4G LTE network.

We just got a few leaked sketches from MTKSJ.

From what we can see, the phone should have very small screen edges and we would see a older design from the first ThL models contrasting from the angular design that we saw lately.

Vivo soon to launch the X3, 6 mm thickness. World Record ?

Vivo will announce somewhere in Angust their thiniest smartphone. According to various leaks, it will be 6 mm thick and sport a 1080p display alongside with a 13 MP rear camera and a 8 MP front one.

Will Moto X be a game changer ?

It has been such a huge buzz now since January at least for the Moto X, does the device live up to the expections ?

So far, what has been revealed, hardware wise, it is the same as what is found in the XiaoMi Mi 2A with some minor differences.
Here are the specifications :
- SoC : Dual Core Krait based (most likely S4 Pro) with Adreno 320 GPU
- Display : 4.7" 16M-color 720p (1280 x 720 pixels) capacitive touchscreen RGB AMOLED (the RGB panel was a specific demand of Motorola) display with curved Gorilla Glass with a density around 316 ppi
- Dimensions and weight : 129.3 x 65.3 x 10.4 mm, 130 g. It is a very (like very, very) compact device height and width wise for a 4.7" Display. The thickness is mostly explained by the curve body of the Moto X.
- RAM : 2 GB
- OS : Android 4.2.2 (not 4.3 but we guess it will be available soon, if not, then it should be)
- Storage : 16 or 32 GB
- Cameras : a 10 MP rear Camera with Clear Pixel technology (instead of Bayer's) with a 1.4 µm pixel size (same as the XiaoMi Red Rice/HongMi) and a 2M front camera
- Battery : 2200 mAh which is a bit more than what is found in this range size
- Specialities : Voice Control always on. Extensive customization of the back.

It will cost USD 200  for 16 GB version and USD 250 with a two year contract available on the five major us carriers.

Certainly, the voice control feature and the higly customizable back cover are very nice, but, to me, thoses features are not killers one and cannot justify such a high price (most likley around USD 600 without contract).
The XiaoMi Mi 2A while lacking those options is available at USD 299 only in our PhonAsia Store which represents, at least a USD 300 cut.

Some precisions about the XiaoMi Red Rice (HongMi)

XiaoMi will launch a first 100 000 units batch partening with Tencent, China Mobile and QQ (on QQ sale platform most likely) in a private sale.

The sale will takes place on August, 12th at 12 o'clock. We sure that everything will be sold in seconds. 

This is one of the cheapest phone available with a Gorilla Glass 2 Screen.

Tablet Gpad Mini : the next step for GooPhone ?

GooPhone is a well known Chinese firm specialized in making perferct designed clones of Apple's phones (iPhone 4 and 5 so far).
This time, it takes us to one step further with the a copy of the iPad Mini.

According to GooPhone, it should be exactly the same dimensions and weight wise.
It will pack the very popular Quad Core MTK6589 at 1.2 GHz, a 7.9" display with a resolution of 1024x768, 1 GB of Ram, 8 GB of Rom, a Single Micro Sim slot with support of GSM + 3G WCDMA, HSPA+, a MicroSD slot supporting up to 32 GB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS, a rear camera of 2MP and front of 0.3 MP and a 4500 mAh battery.
It comes with Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2.

XiaoMi unveils the Red Rice also called the HongMi in China

Yesterday, XiaoMi just unveiled their very anticipated budget Smartphone : the XiaoMi Red Rice (HongMi in its original name). It packs a Quad-Core Mediatek 6589T SoC (or the 6589, we are asking for more precision) at 1.5 GHz, 4.7 inch HD Display 720x1280, a Power VR SGX544 GPU, 1 GB RAM and 4 GB ROM Storage expendable through a Micro SD card. The phone is powered by a 2000 mAh battery.



The camera seems to present some specialties. The pixel is measured at 1.4 µm (which is considered to be huge and should boost low light performance) and there are a lot of them : 8 MP of the rear and 1.3 MP front.
The Camera is a BSI Samsung made and gets a 28mm wide five-element lens.

Others features includes a Dual Sim port with support for GSM/3G and TD-SCDMA networks on both SIM slots.

It will be launched with Android 4.2 running the latest MIUI v5 rom.

You will be able to choose between 3 colors - Ivory, Chinese Red and Metallic Gray (almost black). The back cover can be changed, adding more color choices. The extra colors are : blue, green and yellow. We will put the XiaoMi Red Rice (HongMi) in pre-orders in our store PhonAsia soon. Stay tuned.
